In May 2025 I started working on SnapMedic as a little side project to help me with my own clinical practice. Fast forward to the end of the year and we have an app that is being used by over 2800 each month (circa 200 a day) with 7479 total downloads across iOS and Android.
Let's take a quick look at the year and what is coming up in early 2026!
# The Journey
May - Started working on the basics of an app. Created a respiration rate counter and a basic cardiac arrest logger.
June 2nd - iOS launched. 3 downloads. I think 2 of them were me.
June 24th - Android went live. By the end of the month we'd hit nearly 1,000 downloads.
October 3rd - The rebrand. New logo, new identity. Also our biggest day ever - 897 downloads in 24 hours. SnapMedic stopped being "that hobby project" and became a real tool.
November - Launched the ECG Interpretation Tool with PREMED. Step-by-step approach to 12-leads.
December 10th - Hit 7,000 downloads.
# What We Built
25+ unique tools now in the app:
- Cardiac Arrest Logger - BLS/ALS modes, CPR metronome, intervention logging
- Clinical Calculators - NEWS2, GCS, Wells DVT/PE, Clinical Frailty, Burns
- Handover Mnemonics - SBAR, ATMIST, ASHICE, SAMPLE, SOCRATES
- Shift Tracker - log shifts, track overtime, export for claims, GRS sync
- Skills Tracking - log cannulations, airways, anything for your portfolio
- My Notes - encrypted clinical notes that sync across devices
- Assessment Tools - abdominal, neurological, paediatric, ECG interpretation
And a partnership with PREMED which resulted in our ECG aide.
# What We've Learned
We learned that there is a real demand for tools that are designed for prehospital clinicians. You have blown us away with the amount of downloads and we love all the feedback we have received.

# The Community
We have 97 ambassadors now who help me out by testing new features, giving early feedback and sharing the app within their networks.
We've also had some great reviews this year and I am very grateful for all of the feedback. Here are a few of them:
"This app is absolutely amazing and is jam-packed with everyday tools of the trade for us ambo clinicians. Whether you're a newbie, student or experienced professional this is an essential download in my view." — Bored_Brit
"I am looking forward to promoting this to all of my students at the University of Portsmouth." — Emma, University of Portsmouth
"Fantastic aid when on call as a CFR" — Mark B, Community First Responder
If you've left a review, shared it with a colleague, or just told someone about it, then thank you so much. That's how we reached new people and how we will continue to grow.
# What's Next?
# First Release
The first release of 2026 will be out fairly soon and include lots of little improvements and fixes. This is mainly going to be focused on improving the user experience and making things a bit more consistent across the app.
# Patient / Intervention Log
The Patient log is going to be a feature that's designed for those without access to a computer or tablet and avoid those writing on gloves. It's going to be an extension of our handover, observation and cardiac arrest log features. We are looking at being able to add interventions with timestamps, notes, alongside basic assessment. You will then be able to export this to a PDF or copy a text version to send to an EPCR or similar. This is still going to be based on anonymous data only, ie stuff we cannot identify a patient from.
You will be eventually able to sync this so you can access it to write reflections on incidents etc.
# Wellbeing & Mentoring
We want to add aides and tools to support crews and clinicians with their wellbeing and life skills such as stress management, mentoring and more. If you know any experts in this area who would like to get involved, please let us know!
# Timer Improvements
We are looking at reworking timers from scratch so they use the same underlying logic as alarms on your phone. This will allow for easier to understand alarms and timers.
# Custom Widgets
Looking to add some custom widgets for Android and IOS so you can add bits of the app to your home screen for quick access.
# Learning
Going to keep this one close to my chest for now, all I will say is that it's going to help people improve their skills and knowledge and I am very excited.
# Thank You
I want to say a huge personal thank you to everyone who has supported me and this project throughout this year. It's been a rollercoaster and I never expected anyone else to use the app, let alone 200 a day! I hope 2026 is going to be even better and we can continue to grow the community and make the app even better.
# Want To Get Involved?
We run a Discord server where you can join the community and get involved in the development of the app. You can join the server here. Our Ambassador program also runs on Discord and you can get early access to new features by joining up for free.
