AI OSCE Practice is Here

One of the most common requests we've had from students and newly qualified paramedics is help practising OSCEs. Simulation sessions are hard to book, time is limited, and it's difficult to repeat a scenario as many times as you need to build confidence.

Today we're launching AI OSCE Practice. It's a full OSCE training environment built into SnapMedic.

What is an OSCE?

An OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) is a structured assessment where clinicians demonstrate clinical skills through realistic patient scenarios. For paramedic students and NQPs, OSCEs typically cover patient assessment, history taking, and clinical decision making under pressure.

The challenge with OSCE preparation has always been access. You need a patient actor, a facilitator, and a simulation room, and you need to book all three at the same time. Most students get a handful of sessions before their formal assessment.

With AI OSCE, you can practice any time, any number of times, with consistent clinical scenarios that respond like real patients.

Two Modes: Checklist and AI Patient

We've built two distinct ways to practice, designed for different situations.

# Checklist Mode

Checklist mode works fully offline. Choose a scenario, receive a dispatch message, and work through a structured self-assessment checklist. Mark criteria as you go and review your performance at the end.

This mode is ideal for low-signal environments, quick revision between shifts, or practising your systematic approach without the pressure of a live conversation.

# AI Patient Mode

AI patient mode connects you to a virtual patient who responds in real time. You receive a dispatch message, attend the scene, and conduct your assessment through natural conversation.

Ask anything you'd ask a real patient: SAMPLE history, SOCRATES pain scoring, medication queries, or follow-up questions. The AI responds consistently with the scenario's clinical presentation throughout the encounter.

When you're ready, submit your clinical impression and differential diagnoses. The AI will provide structured feedback on your reasoning, approach, and management plan. It's not a replacement for real patient contact, but it's a great way to get feedback on your approach.

We have also added bystanders to scenarios, treatment options and difficult patients.

AI Marking & Feedback

After submitting your clinical impression, you receive a detailed debrief covering:

  • Assessment approach: did you follow a systematic A-E structure?
  • History taking: what did you ask, what did you miss?
  • Clinical reasoning: how did you use the information you gathered?
  • Management plan: was your impression appropriate for the presentation?

The feedback is structured and specific. It's not a generic pass/fail, but targeted guidance you can act on immediately.

This is not a replacement for real patient contact. Nothing is. But it gives you a consistent, repeatable training environment that's there whenever you need it, and we think it will meaningfully help students prepare.

Access and Pricing

AI OSCE access depends on your subscription tier:

  • Free: 1 AI session per week, plus offline checklist mode for all scenarios.
  • Pro (£1.99/month): 3 AI sessions per week, 20 messages per session, AI marking and feedback.
  • Pro+ (£4.99/month): Unlimited AI sessions, unlimited messages per session, full session history, and CPD portfolio evidence.

Checklist mode is available to all users with no session limits.

Share Your Feedback

We're continuously expanding the scenario library and refining the AI marking system. Your feedback directly shapes what we build next.

If you encounter anything unexpected, have a scenario suggestion, or want to tell us how it went, please let us know through the feedback button in the app or via our Discord server.

We'll be adding new scenarios regularly over the coming weeks.
