Backup Codes
Backup codes are your safety net for account recovery when you can't access your email.
What Are Backup Codes?
Backup codes are one-time use codes that let you access your SnapMedic account if you lose access to your email. They're generated on your device and stored locally - we never see them.
How to Generate Backup Codes
- Open SnapMedic and go to Settings
- Tap Account
- Select Generate Backup Codes
- Save the codes somewhere safe (password manager, printed copy, etc.)
How to Use a Backup Code
- On the login screen, tap Can't access email?
- Enter one of your backup codes
- You'll be logged in and can update your email if needed
Each code can only be used once. Generate new codes after using one.
Critical Security Warning
Because SnapMedic uses zero-knowledge encryption, we cannot recover your data if you lose both:
- Access to your email
- All your backup codes
Store your backup codes securely as soon as you generate them. Consider keeping copies in multiple safe locations.
Best Practices
- Store codes in a password manager
- Keep a printed copy in a secure location
- Don't store codes on the same device as SnapMedic
- Generate new codes if you've used any
- Never share your backup codes with anyone
