April 2026 in Review

Quieter month for SnapMedic overall with a few launches and fixes. Version 6.8 went out built almost entirely from feedback, and the people who've been around a while are using the app more than they used to.

Growing our community

Around 970 new clinicians joined SnapMedic in April, taking total downloads to roughly 12,000. UK clinicians are still about 86–87% of the community, with steady growth in Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.

If SnapMedic has helped you on shift, the single biggest thing you can do is leave a review on the App Store or Google Play. It makes a real difference to how many clinicians find us.

What people used in April

Calculators are still the most-used part of the app: 540 clinicians ran one in April, about 2.6 times each on average. Across the rest of the app:

  • 375 worked through the ECG Interpretation tool
  • 367 used the Respiration Counter
  • 355 logged a cardiac arrest
  • 239 ran flashcard study sessions, with the most committed averaging over 30 reviews each
  • 223 took quizzes
  • 210 logged shifts, regular users averaging six each
  • 184 practised with AI OSCE
  • 101 logged CPD skills

Version 6.8: you asked, we fixed

We ran a feedback survey at the end of March and version 6.8 is more or less what fell out of it. Almost every change started as something one of you asked for: shift presets, day-to-night swap, NQP supervised hours, a rebuilt skills log wizard, a guided EPCR documentation aide, and a new card-based OSCE debrief.

The biggest fix was probably the GRS sync one. Rest days were occasionally being counted as 24-hour shifts, which was throwing off totals and overtime. That's now sorted alongside some other little GRS issues.

OSCE Practice settling in

184 clinicians ran an OSCE practice session in April, completing 458 sessions between them. Chat and Checklist mode are now roughly even in popularity. Chat sessions finish more often (around 60%); Checklist users tend to score higher when they get to the end.

Completion rates dropped slightly, mostly in Foundation Checklist mode. We have some intermediate scenarios in draft as well, covering paediatrics and mental health.

What we shipped beyond 6.8

A few quieter improvements also went live in April, mostly aimed at the first 24 hours after install:

  • Shift Setup nudges if you finish onboarding without a shift pattern set up. Around 900 people saw this in April, and clinicians who set up shift tracking are the ones who stick around.
  • A new shift notification series that nudges people to track shifts if they haven't logged one in their first day.
  • Achievement nudges, a home-screen card that appears when you're close to unlocking a streak or milestone.

What's next

May is a bit of a break with myself on leave for the first week or so. Next few weeks are going to me focused on improving the current experience and building some prototypes. These may turn into features in the future or simply be test beds for new ideas.

Thank you

April was a careful month: fewer headlines, more polish on the bits you use every day. If something's missing you'd like to see (a calculator, a flashcard topic, an OSCE scenario, whatever) please tell us. The roadmap genuinely does get shaped by these messages.

See you next month.
