When we created SnapMedic, we had one clear goal: to provide ambulance clinicians with the professional tools they need every day. Our goal is to keep the app free and accessible to all.
But in reality, building and maintaining an app like this requires significant cost and resources.
The Challenge We Face
To give a little bit of context, here are some of the monthly costs we incur:
- Email Hosting so we can communicate with you
- Domain Hosting to allow us to function
- Sync Server Infrastructure to allow you to access your data across all your devices
- App Store and Google Play Fees to be able to provide the app to you
- Development tools to allow us to build the app
These aren't optional costs, we have to pay for them in order to keep the app running.
Our Commitment to Free Access
We strongly believe that the core of our app should be free and accessible to all. We are comitting that all of our core clinical tools will remain free. These include:
- All calculators (GCS, NEWS2, Burns Assessment, etc.)
- Emergency response tools (Cardiac Arrest logging, timers)
- Patient observation recording & handovers
- Clinical memory aids and mnemonics
- Offline functionality
- Basic shift tracking
What is Pro?
Pro is a £1.99 monthly subscription that gives you access to some extra features that we are adding to the app. At the moment this is just the GRS Sync feature. This allows people who want to support us to do so in a way that is both sustainable for us and of minimal monthly cost. It's roughly the cost of a (cheap) coffee each month.
The reason we chose a subscription model is because the majority of our costs are ongoing and recurring. We need to find a way to fund these costs in order to keep the app running and one off payments are not sustainable for us.
